Vega Tom

Chief Financial Officer
Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA)

Vega brings thirteen years of non-profit accounting, finance and strategic leadership experience. She made her start as a construction bookkeeping while pursuing her Political Science degree at Reed College. Initially having dreams of traipsing off the East Africa (where she has deep roots with an adventurous grandmother living in Nairobi) to do development work, she found she had much to offer communities in the Portland Metro area. With numbers claiming themselves as her true calling, she made her start in non-profit at Hospice of Washington County in Hillsboro as a bookkeeper and human resources coordinator. In growing her leadership through numbers and supporting talented, mission driven staff, Vega grew in her roles to become Director of Finance for a non-profit daycare center and on to Chief Operating Officer of a women’s empowerment organization called World Pulse. Vega also worked with 211info as CFO and provided consulting services to small businesses and non-profits on financial systems, budgeting, human resources and strategic planning. She currently works for Native American Youth and Family Center as Director of Finance.

Vega is driven by a passion for social justice and equity. She is currently pursuing an MBA at University of Portland, with a focus on finance and sustainability.
